Period of visa-free entry to Russia for foreign visitors of 2018 World Cup is ending

Those posessing Fan IDs will be able to enter and leave the Russian Federation visa-free until December 31

MOSCOW, December 27. /TASS/. The Russian Interior Ministry reiterated that a visa-free entry to Russia for the foreign visitors of the 2018 FIFA World Cup matches ends in four days, the ministry’s press center told TASS.

"In accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation foreign citizens who visited the 2018 FIFA World Cup matches as spectators and who have Fan IDs will be able to enter and leave the Russian Federation visa-free until December 31, 2018," the source said.

The foreigners who did not leave Russia’s territory in the period established by the law will be violators of the migration legislation, which incurs administrative liability, including in the form of administrative expulsion.

TASS reported in August that football fans from other countries who received Fan IDs for the World Cup will be able to enter Russia without visas until the end of the year.

The corresponding law was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin and was adopted by the State Duma and the Federation Council and released on the official web portal of legal information.

FIFA World Cup ran from June 14 to July 15 in Russia. The foreign fans who received Fan IDs and purchased tickets for the matches could come to Russia without visas. After the end of the World Cup the Russian president declared that the Fan ID holders will have the right to repeatedly visit Russia visa-free until the end of 2018.

Head of the State Duma Committee for Physical Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth Affairs Mikhail Degtyaryov earlier pointed out that one of the key reasons to develop this initiative were numerous requests coming from the World Cup visitors.
