Putin urges to do all possible to keep Iran nuclear deal in force

On May 8, US President Donald Trump announced plans to quit the Iran nuclear deal

BUENOS AIRES, November 30. /TASS/. Keeping the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in force will help prevent a new wave of tension around the Iranian nuclear program and it is necessary to do everything possible for that, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday.

"In order to prevent a new wave of tension around the Iranian nuclear program, everything possible should be done to keep the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action in force," the Russian leader said at a meeting of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) group of countries on the sidelines of the G20 summit.

US President Donald Trump announced on May 8 that the US was withdrawing from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JPOA) - the 2015 deal that restricted Tehran’s nuclear developments in exchange for lifting UN Security Council sanctions and unilateral restrictive measures that had been imposed by the United States and the European Union.

The other parties to the deal did not approve of the US pullout from the Iranian nuclear deal and remained committed to the previous accords.
