US has no proof to accuse Russia of violating liabilities under CWC, says envoy

Sucj allegations "are geared to mislead the world community," Alexander Shulgin said

THE HAGUE, November 23. /TASS/. The United States has no grounds and evidence to accuse Russia of violating the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), Russian Permanent Representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Alexander Shulgin said on Friday.

"We think absolutely inadmissible that the United States accuses Russia, without any evidence or proof, of violating its liabilities under the CWC in connections with the alleged involvement of Russian citizens in the use of a nerve agent in Salisbury," he said at the OPCW Fourth Review Conference. "Such allegations have absolutely nothing to do with the real state of things and, as a matter of fact, are geared to mislead the world community."

"And the United Kingdom’s refusal from cooperation with Russia on the Skripal case in line with Article 9 of the CWC only proves that these accusations are absolutely ungrounded," he stressed.
