Putin to chair Russian State Council presidium’s meeting in Crimea

The Russian State Council is a consultative body set up to ensure coordination among various state agencies

MOSCOW, November 23. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin will chair an extended session of the Russian State Council’s presidium, to be held near the Crimean city of Yalta to discuss the implementation of his May decrees.

According to the Kremlin, the meeting at the Mriya Resort & SPA some 20 km from Yalta "will be held in a new format that envisages Putin’s informal dialogue with heads of Russian regions."

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian leader has discussed the implementation of May decrees with the government on many occasions, but so far he had no chance to hold a detailed discussion with regional heads.

"And now such a discussion is to take place," Peskov said. "The format is going to be quite interesting."

Vladimir Putin signed the Decree on national goals and strategic development tasks of the Russian Federation for the period until 2024 on May 7. National projects have been created in 12 areas of strategic development: demography, healthcare, education, housing and urban environment, ecology, safe and quality motorways, labor productivity and employment support, science, digital economy, culture, small and medium enterprises and support of individual business initiative, international cooperation and export.

The Russian State Council is a consultative body set up to ensure coordination among various state agencies. It is chaired by the president and includes speakers of the Russian parliament’s two chambers, presidential envoys to Russian regions, heads of parliamentary factions and top regional officials. Pressing issues are being handled by the presidium, which includes eight State Council members who are rotated every six months.

Putin’s previous trip to Crimea took place in May, when he attended the opening of the Crimean Bridge’s road traffic section.
