Russian, Indian experts to analyze development of bilateral ties on annual basis

Director General of the Russian International Affairs Council Andrei Kortunov noted sides consider the possibility of making a joint annual review of bilateral relations

NEW DELHI, November 17. /TASS/. Experts of two influential centers of Russia and India - the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) and Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) - have signed a cooperation agreement envisioning implementation of joint programs, RIAC Director General Andrei Kortunov told TASS on Saturday.

"We have signed a cooperation agreement between our two councils. We plan to organize joint events ending up with a joint product in the future, and particularly we consider the possibility of making a joint annual review of bilateral relations. Such a review could become a barometer of bilateral relations. We already have the experience of such a work with other countries," Kortunov added.

"We view the product as a bilateral annual report presenting both the chronicle of events of bilateral relations and the review of achievements and related problems. Such a report would be demanded both in expert communities and would become a helping hand for people that take decisions regarding new initiatives," he noted.

According to Kortunov, Russian and Indian experts can offer new possibilities for development of bilateral ties. For example, the Russian-Indian economic relations obviously fail to meet the potential of the two countries, he added.
