SINGAPORE, November 13. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in Singapore on a three-day visit, during which he is scheduled to hold talks with Singapore’s leadership, take part in two summits and talk to his foreign colleagues.
The Kremlin press service earlier said the Russia-Singapore high-level talks would be held on Tuesday. The Russia-Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit will take place on Wednesday and the East Asia Summit is scheduled for November 14-15.
During the visit, the Russian leader will also hold bilateral meetings with South Korean President Moon Jae-in, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
Putin is paying a visit to Singapore for the first time. This year Russia and Singapore mark the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations. In 2009, Russia’s then President Dmitry Medvedev arrived in the republic on an official visit for the first time in the history of bilateral relations.
According to Kremlin Aide Yuri Ushakov, Putin’s visit program on Tuesday also envisages participation together with Singapore’s President Halimah Yacob in a ceremony to lay the foundation stone of the Russian cultural center and an Orthodox church in Singapore.
