WASHINGTON, November 9. /TASS/. The Russian side has no idea of what Washington is trying to achieve by regularly sanctioning Russia for its reunification with Crimea, the Russian embassy in Washington said on Thursday.
"The U.S. authorities continue to impose new sanctions on the Russian Crimea on a regular basis. We were promised to face them every month or two. Therefore, we expect to find a new round of sanctions under the Christmas Tree. We have to admit that we’ve lost track of what the U.S. side is trying to achieve from it a long time ago," the embassy said in a statement.
"We’ve noticed that Crimean hotels ended up in the sanctions list this time, including the best SPA hotel in the world. In this regard we expect the popularity of these resorts to grow. We are confident that they will add special offers for American tourists," the statement reads. "The Crimea is ready to welcome guests from the U.S. Come to see it with your own eyes."
The Treasury Department said in a report on Thursday that the US authorities have expanded the sanctions list against Russia related to Ukraine and Crimea, adding three individuals and nine organizations to it.
The list includes Alexander Basov, who is linked with the Ministry of State Security of the Lugansk People's Republic, according to the US Treasury’s statement. The alleged link may concern the Deputy Minister of State Security of the republic, but this is not specified in the document. Two other individuals on the list are Andrey Sushko and Vladimir Zaritsky. The US Treasury provides no specific information about them.
The US Treasury added three sanatoriums located in Crimea Ay-Petri, Duilber and Miskhor. The sanctioned companies on the lists are Krymteploelektrotsentral, Garant-SV, Management Company for Infrastructure Projects, Yuzhny Project, the Mriya resort and the Ministry of State Security of the Lugansk People’s Republic.
