Russian, Indonesian presidents may meet in November

A meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indonesian President Joko Widodo is scheduled for November, says the Federation Council speaker

MOSCOW, October 23. /TASS/. A meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indonesian President Joko Widodo is scheduled for November. It should be held on the sidelines of the ASEAN summit in Singapore, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said at a meeting on Tuesday with Indonesia’s Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly Oesman Sapta Odang.

"We expect that a meeting will also be organized on the sidelines of the East Asia Summit soon. A meeting between the president of the Russian Federation and the president of Indonesia is being prepared; it will be held in November this year in Singapore," she said.

The speaker added that "a visit of the Russian president to Indonesia is being planned" as well. "With regard to your political cycle, the timeline will be most probably coordinated after the end of the election campaign (presidential and parliamentary elections will be held in Indonesia in 2019 - TASS). However, it is important not just to determine the timeline, but to fill this visit with substantive contents, which we will talk about later," Matviyenko concluded.
