MOSCOW, August 17. /TASS/. The Russian Security Council has confirmed the upcoming meeting between the Council’s Secretary Nikolai Patrushev and US National Security Adviser John Bolton. It will be held before the end of August, spokesman for the Russian Security Council Yevgeny Anoshin said on Friday.

"A meeting between Patrushev and Bolton is planned," he noted. "It is expected to be held in Geneva before the end of August."

"The agenda of the Russian-US consultations on security and their format are now being agreed," Anoshin added.

Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov earlier confirmed reports on preparations for a meeting between Russia’s representatives and US National Security Adviser John Bolton scheduled to be held in Geneva next week. For its part, Reuters reported citing a US administration official that Moscow will be represented at the meeting by Secretary of Russia’s Security Council Nikolai Patrushev.

The Russian Security Council earlier said plans were in store to arrange a Patrushev-Bolton meeting without specifying the date and venue for the consultations. On June 27, Yuri Averyanov, First Deputy Secretary of Russia’s Security Council, held talks with Bolton in Moscow, during which the two sides discussed the prospects for cooperation between Russia’s Security Council and the US National Security Council.
