No conditions for new Normandy format summit, says top diplomat

Sergey Lavrov added that the idea of holding the Normandy Four summit had been put forward by France and Germany during his visit to Berlin and Paris last week

DVORIKI VILLAGE /Vladimir Region/, July 30. /TASS/. There are no conditions yet for holding another top-level Normandy format (Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France) meeting, since the previous agreements between the four leaders have not been implemented, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Monday addressing the participants in the Territory of Meanings National Educational Youth Forum on Monday.

"Until a specific agreement between the Normandy Four leaders on three inhabited communities (for armaments disengagement - TASS) is implemented, the next summit will be not very good for the reputation of the Normandy format, not to mention the fact that in the political field such a well-known thing as the Steinmeier formula has not been put on paper for two and a half years now," he said.

Lavrov added that the idea of holding the Normandy Four summit had been put forward by France and Germany during his visit to Berlin and Paris last week.

The agreements on the disengagement of manpower and materiel near the inhabited communities of Petrovskoye, Zolotoye and Stanitsa Luganskaya were reached at a meeting of the Normandy Four leaders in Berlin in October 2016. The parties to the conflict have not been to disengage their forces near Stanitsa Luganskaya to date. Kiev claims that a stable ceasefire has not been achieved there.
