Russia suggests restoring military communication channels with NATO

It is impossible to move forward without engaging military experts, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said

MOSCOW, July 26. /TASS/. Russia and NATO will not move forward in talks on preventing incidents unless they restore military communication channels, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said in an interview with TASS.

"If NATO members are truly interested in improving the situation in this field, then there is a need to take simple steps," he said. "First, military communication channels should be restored. It is impossible to move forward without engaging military experts because we are dealing with technically complicated things," Grushko added.

"It particularly includes determining safe approach distances for vessels and aircraft," he said. "The militaries surely must discuss such issues. We are ready for this work," the Russian deputy foreign minister said.
