Normandy Four political directors to discuss Donbass referendum in Berlin

The Normandy Four meeting of political directors is set to take place at the end of the week in Berlin

MOSCOW, July 23. /TASS/. The Normandy Four (Russia, Ukraine, Germany, France) meeting of political directors is set to take place at the end of the week in Berlin, where the Donbass referendum will be discussed, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin told journalists on Monday.

"A meeting of the Normandy Four political directors should take place at the end of this week in Berlin," the diplomat said. "We will discuss our progress in the implementation of the Minsk agreements. We will talk about it [the Donbass referendum] there."

The last Normandy Four meeting took place in Berlin on June 11.

Earlier, Bloomberg reported, citing two unnamed individuals who were present during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s speech at a meeting of Russian ambassadors and permanent representatives in Moscow, that the Russian leader allegedly suggested holding a referendum in eastern Ukraine at the Helsinki summit between Putin and US President Donald Trump. Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova later stated that if the US and the international community are unable to make Kiev implement the Minsk agreements, then they can discuss other methods of regulation.
