Doha expects Putin to visit Qatar, Russian ambassador says

When asked whether visits by Qatar’s leadership are planned this year, Nurmakhmad Kholov did not rule out such a possibility

MOSCOW, July 21. /TASS/. Qatar expects Russian President Vladimir Putin to pay a visit to that country, Russian Ambassador to Qatar Nurmakhmad Kholov told TASS.

"Qatar says it is waiting for our president’s visit," he said.

When asked whether visits by Qatar’s leadership are planned this year, Kholov did not rule out such a possibility. "Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, came twice earlier this year, let’s say, officially and semi-officially. He attended FIFA World Cup matches several times. I don’t think there is any need for his visit until the end of this year. However, our relations have been developing very intensively, so nothing can be ruled out," the diplomat noted.

Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani paid an official visit to Russia in March 2018. He also attended FIFA World Cup matches in Russia.
