Putin offers condolences to Japanese PM over people’s deaths from heavy rains

According to latest information, at least 105 people became the victims of the heavy rains and landslides in western Japan, and around 80 more are missing

MOSCOW, July 9. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a telegram to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe offering condolences over the many human death and massive destruction caused by floods and landslides in the west of the country.

The Kremlin press service reported that "the Russian head of state highlighted that Russia shares the pain of those who lost their relatives and friends in the disaster and hopes for soon recovery of all the injured."

According to latest information, at least 105 people became the victims of the heavy rains and landslides in western Japan, and around 80 more are missing. In the early hours of Monday, Japanese first responders launched a search and rescue operation with support from the Japan Self-Defense Forces. Heavy rains were caused by the typhoon "Prapirun," that had ceased over the Sea of Japan on Wednesday, turning into a low-pressure area. It is the seventh typhoon to have emerged in the Pacific Ocean this year. A person was killed and about 20 were injured in the tropical storm in Japan.
