Normandy Four participants work towards meeting in June — Russian EU envoy

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin said a Normandy Four meeting could be held in June

BRUSSELS, June 5./TASS/. The participants in the Normandy Four format for the settlement in Ukraine work towards holding a meeting in June, Russia’s EU Ambassador Vladimir Chizhov told a news conference in Brussels on Tuesday.

"I can say that we are working in close coordination to hold a ministerial meeting this month," the diplomat said.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin said a Normandy Four meeting could be held in June, adding that the final date had not yet been coordinated.

The first meeting in the so-called Normandy Four format was held in France on June 6, 2014, during celebrations to mark the 70th anniversary of the landing of allied troops in Normandy, when the leaders of Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany held talks to find a solution to the conflict in southeast Ukraine.

Since then, numerous phone talks, summits and ministerial meetings have been held. The most recent meeting of the Normandy Four top diplomats took place in Munich in February 2017.
