Russian diplomat believes Poroshenko unduly links UN peacekeepers, Donbass election

Earlier, Poroshenko said UN peacekeepers should be deployed in Donbass first for holding elections there

MOSCOW, May 14. /TASS/. Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko displays undue haste when he says UN peacekeepers should be deployed in Donbass first for holding elections there, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin told the media on Monday.

"I believe that Poroshenko hurries too much in his speculations. First and foremost he must ask the people of Donetsk and Lugansk what they think on that score. Also, he should reread the content of the Minsk Accords of February 2015 more attentively," Karasin said.

Earlier, Poroshenko said the deployment of peace-keepers in Donbass was the sole possible means of starting the political process of launching preparations for local elections.
