US keeps evading political dialogue with Russia on anti-terrorism fight — diplomat

The Russian diplomat is attending this week in Washington a session of the Inter-American Committee against Terrorism

WASHINGTON, May 4. /TASS/. The United States keeps walking away from a political dialogue with Russia on the issues of joint fight against terrorism, a senior Russian diplomat said on Friday.

"Unfortunately, we have no common political dialogue on the issue with Americans," Deputy Director for New Threats and Challenges Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Dmitry Feoktistov, said. "There has been no dialogue over the recent years and there is none at the moment."

The Russian diplomat is attending this week in Washington a session of the Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (CICTE).

Feoktistov said that the Russian-American anti-terrorism interdepartmental working group, which was set up under a bilateral presidential commission, "had not convened for many years."

"There is no dialogue (with the United States) regarding the political aspects of the fight against terrorism," Feoktistov said.
