Fruits of labor recognized in gold: Putin awards honorary titles at Kremlin ceremony

Vladimir Putin presented the Hero of Labor awards to five Russians

MOSCOW, April 25. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin presented the Hero of Labor awards to five Russians at the Kremlin’s Wednesday ceremony dedicated to Labor Day, which is celebrated on May 1.

In his address to the laureates, Putin noted that Russia has "a lot to do to achieve breakthroughs in various areas." "Tackling these issues directly depends on people’s energy and their drive to attain a result and (their) aspiration to change life around them for the better."

The Russian leader stressed that all recipients of the award have something in common. "Each of you knows that to be really successful and ultimately happy, you have to sincerely love what you do and never settle just for what’s achieved, time after time setting greater goals for yourself."

The tradition of awarding the Hero of Labor gold medals, initiated during the Soviet era, was revived in 2013 in Russia. The honor is given for outstanding achievements in state, social and economic activity, for contributing to the country’s social and economic development, particularly in industry, agriculture, transport, construction, science, culture, education, medicine and other fields.
