On April 22, a terrorist blew himself up in western Kabul

MOSCOW, April 23. /TASS/. Russia denounces a terror attack in Kabul, which was directed against the election process and settlement of the situation in Afghanistan, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated on Monday.

"We resolutely denounce this inhuman act directed against the election process and development of a peaceful and democratic Afghanistan," the ministry noted. "We call on Afghanistan’s authorities to undertake all necessary measures to provide security for the elections to the parliament and district councils that are due to take place this year."

The ministry offered condolences to the families and friends of those killed and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

On April 22, a terrorist blew himself up in western Kabul near a facility where voters were being registered, killing 57 people and injuring more than 110, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported. An Afghan branch of Islamic State, a terror organization that is outlawed in Russia, claimed responsibility for the terror attack.
