MOSCOW, January 14 /ITAR-TASS/. Half-a-million foreigners have been denied entry into Russia for breaking rules governing their length of stay, the Federal Migration Service (FMS) told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.
"The FMS has crossed the half-million threshold in terms of barring entry to foreigners who violated Russian laws," a service official said. "They will be unable to visit Russia for several years as they have offended by exceeding the period of legal presence in this country."
Thirty-four Russian regions have special centres for accommodating foreigners or persons without citizenship subject to expulsion, deportation or re-admission subject to a court ruling.
