Chinese ecologists attend Leopard Land festival in Russia

The Chinese guests will participate in a costumed march, a fair, master classes and other attractions devoted to the festival’s main hero - the Far Eastern leopard

VLADIVOSTOK, September 20 /TASS/. The Leopard Land festival which has been marked in the far eastern Primorsky Krai (Primorye territory) since 2003 has turned international this year after ecologists and biologists from China’s Jilin province arrived at the festival’s traditional venue in the Slavyanka village.

"The Chinese guests will participate in a costumed march, a fair, master classes and other attractions devoted to the festival’s main hero - the Far Eastern leopard," Maria Okulova, a national park’s official, told TASS.

This year, Russian and Chinese ecologists have analyzed the three-year data of photo traps installed in the territories of Russia and China.

The analysis showed that the world population of the far eastern leopard in 2014 numbered no less than 80 species, which actively migrate between the territories of Russia and China.
