Russian spacecraft's solar array deployed before docking to ISS — space agency

Russian space agency specialists saw that the solar array was deployed while watching the ship’s docking to the ISS

BAIKONUR /Kazakhstan/, July 23. /TASS/. The port solar array at Russia’s Soyuz TMA-17M space vehicle deployed before docking to the International Space Station (ISS), head of the Russian Space Agency (Roscosmos) Igor Komarov told a news conference on Thursday.

"The battery unfolded before docking," he said.

He said Roscosmos specialists saw that the solar array was deployed while watching the ship’s docking to the ISS.

According to earlier reports, The Soyuz’s port solar array failed to deploy, but it did not hamper the docking.

Komarov said that such situation had already happened at manned spacecraft and promised to probe into this case.
