The ministry's accounts on Facebook and Twitter have 250,000 and 675,000 followers respectively

MOSCOW, June 18. /TASS/. The Russian Foreign Ministry on Thursday launched an official account on Vkontakte, Russia's largest social network.

"The official account will provide up-to-date information on Russia's foreign policy, historical materials about the diplomatic service and useful data for compatriots and Russians abroad," the ministry said.

The ministry expressed hope that the account http://vk.com/mid that already has over 9,000 followers would become popular with Vkontakte users.

The ministry's accounts on Facebook and Twitter have 250,000 and 675,000 followers respectively.
