LONDON, March 12. /TASS/. US and British higher educational establishments have topped the rating of a hundred most prestigious world universities, The Times Higher Education magazine said in a report published on Thursday. Higher educational establishments of the United States and Britain only have occupied positions in a group of ten best universities on the list, it said.
The US Harvard University has been placed on top of the list for the fifth time in succession. University of Cambridge and University of Oxford are in the second and third positions, respectively, with four more points of merit gained by each of them in comparison with last year.
The US institutes occupied the remainder of the positions in a group of the ten best schools on the list: Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, University of California, Berkeley, Princeton University, Yale University, California Institute of Technology, Columbia University.
It is noteworthy that five institutes not located on the territory of the United States or the United Kingdom managed to pave their way to a group of educational establishment which occupy 25 best positions in the rating. They are Tokyo University (12th position), Swiss Federal Institute of Technology based in Zurich (15th), Toronto University placed 16th, Singapore National University (24th position) and Moscow Lomonosov State University placed in the 25th position in the rating of the best world educational establishments.
