MOSCOW, February 25. /TASS/. Russian Culture Ministry will have to cut financing to cinematography because of economic problems, head of the cinematography department of the Culture Ministry Vyacheslav Telnov told TASS on Wednesday.
"The Culture Ministry will cut financing to cinematography by 600 million roubles," he said. "Nonetheless, the planned cuts will not tell on the number projects carried out with the ministry’s support," he said. Half of around six billion roubles earmarked for the development of cinematography this year were meant for potentially successful projects, and the remainder were planned to support individual innovational projects in cinema and documentary films. Regrettably, the ministry will have to cut funds earmarked for the latter projects, Telnov said.
