Most Russians say friends or family are the best matchmakers

MOSCOW, February 12. /TASS/. Most Russians say friends or family are the best matchmakers, while online dating sites and marriage agencies are less effective, according to a new poll released by the All-Russia Public Opinion Centre on Thursday.

Some 35% of the respondents say they have turned for help of their friends of relatives if they needed to find a soulmate.

Only 22% of Russians, mainly those aged 18-24, said they had sought a partner using social networks or dating websites.

Only 6% of those polled have visited marriage agencies or matchmakers. More than 56% said their work was useless.

The poll was conducted ahead of St. Valentine's Day among 1,600 people in 46 Russian regions. The statistic margin of error does not exceed 3.5%
