Moderate earthquake hits Russia’s Kamchatka coastal areas

The earthquake occurred in the Pacific, off Kamchatka’s eastern coas

VLADIVOSTOK, February 5. /TASS/ A magnitude 5.1 earthquake hit the coastal areas of Russia’s Far Eastern Kamchatka Peninsula, the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Geophysical Service reported on Thursday.

The earthquake occurred in the Pacific, off Kamchatka’s eastern coast. The epicenter was located some 150 kilometres away from the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and 60 kilometres off the coastline at a death of 33 kilometres.

A spokesman for the Kamchatka department of the Russian emergencies ministry said no earth tremors were felt in Kamchatka populated localities. No tsunami warning was issued.
