Magniture 6.4 earthquake hits New Zealand

No casualties have been reported. No tsunami threat has been declared

SYDNEY, January 6. /TASS/. A magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck New Zealand’s South Island, the country’s GeoNet advisory service said on Tuesday.

The epicentre of the earthquake was located about 35 kilometres from the town of Methven, the service said.

No casualties have been reported. No tsunami threat has been declared.
