Russian film Leviathan nominated for Golden Globe awards

Leviathan by Andrey Zvyagintsev premiered at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival in May and won the award for Best Screenplay

LOS ANGELES, December 11. /TASS/. A 2014 Russian drama film Leviathan directed by Andrey Zvyagintsev has been nominated for the Golden Globe's Best Foreign Language Film.

The list of nominees was published on the award's website on Thursday. The Golden Globe awards ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on January 11.

The movie, a modern reworking of the Book of Job, is set on a peninsula by the Barents Sea and tells the story of a man struggling against a local corrupt mayor.

Leviathan premiered at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival in May and won the award for Best Screenplay.
