NEW DELHI, December 1. /TASS/. An Indian diamond trader hosted a mass wedding for his 111 foster daughters who have lost their fathers, Indian media reported on Monday.
Mahesh Savani also arranged for wedding gifts worth $7,250 to be given to each of the girls.
"Material gifts are not important, but I have given my name to them and will fulfil all my responsibilities as a father of the bride for the rest of my life," Savani said before the ceremony that was held at a school in Gujarat state, western India, on Sunday.
Savani said he had started hosting such weddings since 2008 when one of his "employees died just 12 days before he could marry off his two daughters."
In total, Savani has organized weddings of 251 women.
