Mariinsky’s orchestra goes on guest tour to Taiwan and China

The repertoire will include music pieces by Russian composers Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, and Modest Musorgsky

ST.PETERSBURG, November 28 /TASS/. The St.Petersburg-based Mariinsky’s Symphony Orchestra led by maestro Valery Gergiyev left on a guest tour to the biggest cities in Taiwan and China on Friday. Gergiyev, the People’s Artist of Russia, has just finished his Australian tour with the London Symphony Orchestra and would join the rest of the troupe without flying home. The orchestra will give a series of concerts from November 30 to December 4.

The repertoire will include music pieces by Russian composers Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, and Modest Musorgsky.

The tour will end in Beijing on December 3-4 where the orchestra will open the Sergei Prokofiev music festival.
