Christopher Nolan’s "Interstellar" tops Russian box-office

The movie collected 385 million rubles during the first weekend which is much more than Nolan's other works did

"Interstellar", a new film of American director, an author of the "Inception" blockbuster and "The Dark Knight" triology, Christopher Nolan, is at the top of the Russian box-office results this weekend, portal reports.

An Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey plays the lead role. Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine and other famous actors also star in this film. In Russia the movie was released on November 6 and collected 385 million rubles during the first weekend, which is much more than the other Nolan’s works.

An animated film "Big Hero 6" released on October 23 is at the second place among 5 leaders of the box-office. By the first weekend Disney’s cartoon has collected 127 million rubles and at the moment the total box-office is 757.7 million. It is noteworthy that in America "Big Hero 6" is at the top of the box-office, leaving "Interstellar" behind.

The third place was taken by David Ayer’s drama "Fury" starring Brad Pitt. In Russia the movie collected 56.2 million rubles during the weekend. The total box-office of the film is 311.8 million.

The Russian comedy "Gorko! 2" by Zhora Kryzhovnikov is at the top five, following "Fury". The film collected a bit more than 530 million rubles in three weeks, 29.8 million of which are during the weekend.

And finally the French animated film "Yellowbird" released on Thursday is at the fifth place. Following the first weekend the film collected 28.5 million.
