MOSCOW, November 10. /TASS/ On Monday Russian theater booking offices have opened ticket sale for performances to be held in the framework of the Chekhov International Theater Festival due in Russia on May 13 - July 17, 2015, Director general of the International Theater Festival Valery Shadrin told TASS. “It is world practice to open booking offices at least half a year before a theater festival. The Chekhov festival has long firmly asserted itself in the rank of the main world theater events,” Shadrin said.
"The Russian festival was founded in 1992. More than 500 performances from 40 world countries have been demonstrated in Russia since," Shadrin said.
"Despite a problematic political situation which developed now theater companies from 14 world countries will take part in the Russian festival; some of them will perform in Russia for the first time," Shadrin said.
It is very important that not only Moscow, but also other Russian cities, including Voronezh, Yekaterinburg,Tyumen, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Pskov and Tobolsk, will host the Chekhov International Theater Festival in 2015, he said.
