“There is no way I would ask others to go on a Virgin Galactic flight if I didn't feel it was safe enough for myself,” he said.
Branson stressed that the company still enjoys strong support of its investors who are going to become passengers of Virgin Galactic spacecrafts. "They want to see this happen, and they want to show their commitment," he said.
SpaceShipTwo crashed Friday in the south of California. It exploded during the flight over the desert of Mojave shortly after the shuttle separated from the jet-powered aircraft White Knight 2 and turned on its engine. The investigation of the tragedy is expected to take from several weeks to several months.
Some experts assume that the accident could have occurred due to fuel explosion. Reportedly, Virgin Galactic and Scaled Composites, a Northrop Grumman subsidiary, decided to use a new type of fuel.
