SIMFEROPOL, September 22. /ITAR-TASS/. Some 850,000 foreign tourists visited the Republic of Crimea since the beginning of the tourist season, while the total number of people visiting Crimea since the start of the year totaled 2.78 million, the Crimean Tourism Ministry said on Monday.
“Out of the total number of tourists, 70% are from Russia, 28% are from Ukraine (832,510) and remaining two percent are from other countries (16,990),” the ministry said. “Therefore, 849,500 foreign tourists visited Crimea this season.”
Svetlana Verba, the Crimean minister of economic development, earlier told ITAR-TASS that besides tourists a number of foreign delegations visited Crimea as well and they were from the Netherlands, Israel, Turkey, the Czech Republic and other countries.
She also said that foreign businesses are ready and are willing to work in the Russian Black Sea coastal republic of Crimea despite all sanctions introduced against Russia by the European Union and the United States.
