Russia’s upper house ratifies space agreements with Vietnam, Nicaragua

MOSCOW, July 09. /ITAR-TASS/. The Federation Council ratified on Wednesday two inter-governmental agreements on collaboration in exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes with Nicaragua and Vietnam.

The documents are aimed at laying the organizational and legal groundwork for formation and improvement of the cooperation programs in practical spheres of the countries’ joint activity in the exploration and use of outer space and in practical application of space equipment and technology for peaceful purposes.

The agreements regulate copyright issues, protection and exchange of information, certification of target use and regulations for circulation inside the importer country of the secured goods and technologies that fall under export control, procedures of disputes settlement, as well as liabilities and damage compensations.

The documents envisage that the goods specially earmarked for space cooperation should be transferred across the border duty-free and tax-free.
