PARIS, June 25. /ITAR-TASS/. World famous fashion designer Pierre Cardin has been awarded the Russian Order of Friendship - a high state award given to prominent Russian and foreign citizens who help develop Russia's scientific and economic potential, reach mutual understanding and promote friendly contacts between people of different nationalities.
Russian ambassador to France Alexander Orlov handed the prestigious award to Pierre Cardin at a gala ceremony held at the Russian Embassy in Paris on Tuesday.
Addressing the laureate of the prestigious award, the Russian ambassador said that "the award goes to Pierre Cardin as a tribute for his contribution to strengthening friendship and cooperation between Russia and France.”
Pierre Cardin told ITAR-TASS that he had first been to Moscow almost half a century ago. He has returned to Moscow for more than three dozen times since, Cardin said.
