Russia’s largest national flag to be unfolded in Moscow

MOSCOW, June 11. /ITAR-TASS/. A giant national flag of Russia, embracing an area of over 1,000 square meters (over 10,760 square feet), will be unfolded on Wednesday at a stadium in the capital of Moscow as part of the festivities to celebrate the Day of Russia on June 12.

The event, which will be held at the Moskvich (Muscovite) stadium in the southeast of the Russian capital and called The Largest Flag of Russia, is expected to be attended by some 1,500 people, including over 40 dignitary guests.

The exact size of the flag, which is expected to enter Russia’s book of records, is 26 by 40 meters (85X131 feet). Following the presentation in Moscow, the flag will go on a relay across the Russian cities.

The Largest Flag of Russia event is organized by the Regional Development Ministry, International Environmental Movement Terra Viva and the Russian Municipal Academy.

Last year Russia broke the Guinness world record for the largest human national flag, which an image of the national flag was formed by 26,904 people on the Zolotoy Bridge in the Far Eastern city of Vladivostok.
