Contractors to bid for new Tretyakov Gallery at June auction

A competition to design the building was launched in May last year

MOSCOW, May 14. /ITAR-TASS/. An online auction to build a new home for central Moscow's famed Tretyakov Gallery will take place on June 6, says the state procurements website.

Bids for the nearly 3 billion-ruble ($84 million) museum complex will be accepted between May 13 and May 30.

A competition to design the building was launched in May last year, with the architectural studio SPEECH declared winner two months later.

The gallery's new location lies between Kadashevskaya Quay and Maly Tolmachevsky Lane, close to the existing building.

SPEECH studio’s project suggests a 4-5-storey building with a total area of 35,100 square meters. It will include about 9,000 square meters of exhibition halls, a conference hall, press centre and cafeteria. The project is due for completion by December 2018.
