KRASNOYARSK, April 17. /ITAR-TASS/. The flight tests of two new telecommunications satellites - Express-AT1 and Express-AT2, assembled by the Krasnoyarsk-based company Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems (RISS) have been completed, the RISS press service told ITAR-TASS on Thursday.
The satellites had been placed into the Earth’s orbit on March 16.
“During the tests, the satellites have passed the tests of the payload modules and support systems. The tests ended successfully, the systems are working normally,” the company sources said.
“The Express-AT1 satellite has been transferred to the working geostationary orbit point and handed over to the customer. The second satellite will be transferred to the customer in late May after it reaches its orbital position,” the RISS said.
Both spacecraft are designed for the provision of fixed and mobile satellite communications services, data transfer, high-speed Internet access, as well as television services in Russia and the neighboring countries.
The new satellites will supplement the orbital constellation of RISS-made spacecraft. As of April 2014, the orbital constellation comprises 82 satellites, of which 51 satellites are in designated use.
