Russia rates seventh among top 20 world film distribution markets

MOSCOW, March 26, /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s box office grew by 11 percent in 2013 on 2012 to reach 1.4 billion dollars, according to a report of the Motion Picture Association of America.

According to the results of the past year, Russia rates seventh among top 20 world film distribution markets (except for the United States and Canada) after China, Japan, Great Britain, France, India and South Korea. The Russian film distribution market was among the leaders for growth in EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa).

The worldwide box office for films distributed in 2013 was 35.9 billion dollars, up by four percent on the corresponding index for 2012.
