Film about Saint Petersburg to be shot by Russian and foreign directors

The film will be distributed all over the world

ST. PETERSBURG, March 14,  /ITAR-TASS/. Russian and foreign authors of the film with a working title "Petersburg: category of feelings" designed as a collection of ten short novellas will draw a portrait of the Northern capital of Russia through human characters and their actions. The film is one of the Lenfilm studio’s new projects presented at the Ministry of Culture’s contest intended to subsidize the national cinematography.

 

Each director’s expressive individuality will reflect in a kaleidoscope of unusual images characteristic of St. Petersburg. Films will represent the modern city via stories, characters, feelings of people from diverse social and cultural layers. These essays will be united under the common principle as each film is bound to illustrate a feeling or a trait, Pleasure, Effort, Trust, Envy, Repose, Shrewdness, Bravery, Uncertainty, Refuge, Glee whose first letters make up the word PETERSBURG. The English word has been chosen as the film is planned for wide world distribution.

The idea of a cinema miscellany in collaboration with Western directors was put forward by producer Sergey Selyanov, head of the CTB Film Company. This will be his first joint project with Lenfilm. Director Fyodor Bondarchuk will head the project and direct one of the novellas.
