Construction of new football stadium for World Cup-2018 launched in Russian Ural city

YEKARERINBURG, March 13,  /ITAR-TASS/. Large-scale reconstruction was launched at football stadium Uralmash in the Russian Ural city of Yekaterinburg on Thursday. A new unroofed stadium with modern surface will have been built by May 2015, information department of Sverdlovsk regional governor said.

The football stadium will be the main training base for football team Ural and for training of children’s and youth teams Ural. New stands for 10,000 seats, an administrative building with change rooms, rooms for athletes’ leisure will be built at the stadium. The construction project will cost 590 million roubles.

“By 2018 when the FIFA World Cup will be held, a sport complex of four pitches, including three unroofed pitches and one roofed pitch will be built here. Two pitches will have artificial surface and two other pitches will have grass surface. A dormitory for 450 people and a hotel for 100 people will be built. All conditions will be provided for football training of amateur and professional athletes,” deputy director of Ural Football Academy Gulnara Shadrina said.

Builders have already launched dismantling the stadium, starting from an administrative building that is shabby. In May when snow melts down dismantling of stands will be launched. The pitch surface was replaced several years ago, therefore, it will be moved carefully to another ground. A pitch will be built according to requirements of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) and top-level games will be played on it in the future. At the FIFA World Cup teams will train on these pitches, official matches will be held at stadium Tsentralny that is also planned to reconstruct.
