MOSCOW, February 05. /ITAR-TASS/. The Russian government has set forth a unique task - to create new cultural space on the territory of Russia and the whole world, Vice-Premier Olga Golodets told a victory ceremony held to award laureates of state awards in the field of culture and arts on Wednesday.
"We have acknowledged Russia as a unique state from the point of view of culture; we are proud of our achievements; we are a generally acknowledged world leader in world culture. Now, we are planning the next step - to create new cultural space on the territory of Russia and in the world, establish new cultural contacts; we want to see new talents, create conditions for our people who have an artistic talent for creation of new masterpieces," the vice-premier declared.
"Last year proved an absolute success for a Year of Culture; there were many significant events which were reflected in equally significant figures. Thus, the number of museum visitors rose by 10%. Last year more than 30 million people visited museums in Russia. The reason was not only interesting exhibitions. We have been creating new cultural space by organizing "A night at a Museum" and "Virtual Museum" campaigns. Besides, practically in every sphere things are happening which create high-end art we are proud of and which we treat as the cultural wealth of the nation," Golodets said.
