Big ski ramp to be introduced for women at future Olympics 2022

Mixed men and women team pursuit is likely to be added to the Olympic program

MOSCOW, February 5. /ITAR-TASS/. The president of Russia’s Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined Federation, Alexander Uvarov, believes women will be allowed to ski jump from big take-off ramps K-125 at the future Olympics in 2022. The ramp has a par distance to aim for at 125 meters.

“I believe women’s Olympic program will be extended. The International Ski Federation will choose what events it will include, as it is up to them to decide”, he told Itar-Tass at a news briefing on Wednesday.

He added that mixed men and women team pursuit was likely to be added to the Olympic program, as the event had already been tested and is actively being promoted.

“As far as the big ramp is concerned, I do not think it will be introduced at the next Games, but I have no doubts that we will see it on the Olympic schedule in 2022”, said Uvarov.

The federation’s head stressed that women were showing quite good results at ski jumping and the introduction of the K-125 ramp for women was a question of time.
