Russia's sambo wrestling team wins 1st stage of World Cup in team classification in Almaty

ASTANA, January 27, /ITAR-TASS/. Russia's sambo wrestling team has won the first stage of World Cup in team classification in Almaty (Kazakhstan).

As a result of competitions, the Russian wrestlers in sports and combat sambo emerged victorious in 11 weight classes out of 22.

Gold medal winners are as follows: Gayane Arutyunyan (up to 48 kg weight division), Diana Aliyeva (56), Anastasia Shinkarenko (60), Rimma Tropina (68), Olga Zakhartsova (72), Pavel Lagvenkin (68), Sergei Kiryukhin (82), Dmitry Yeliseyev (100), and Artyom Osipenko (over 100) in sports sambo; Sergei Razin (62) and Maxim Futin (100) in combat sambo.

Kazakhstan's team placed second with six gold medals, and the team of Belarus is third with two gold medals.

Yerbolat Baibatyrov of Kazakhstan has been recognized as the best sportsman of the competitions.
