Experts: Sochi railway stations fit for physically challenged

MOSCOW, January 13. /ITAR-TASS/. Railway stations in the area of the Sochi winter Olympics are fully compliant with the requirements of differently-abled people, specialists decided having inspected six local facilities - the Olympic Park, Krasnaya Polyana, Esto-Sadok, Adler, Sochi and Hosta.

The checks were organized by the railway hubs of the Russian Railways company (RZD) in cooperation with the NGO Russian Association for Sport and Leisure Facilities. Upon completion of the inspection all railway stations were certified.

The evaluation of an ‘equal opportunities’ environment was voluntary and had been earlier applied to certify the Olympic facilities in Sochi like the ice palaces Bolshoi, Iceberg, Shayba, and the bobsleigh and Nordic combined tracks.

The use of common expert technologies during the XXII Winter Olympics and XI Paralympic Games “will provide for the universal space free of barriers at both sporting facilities and on transport” the source at the RZD added.
