MOSCOW, January 12, 8:33 /ITAR-TASS/. Russian Defence Minister General Sergey Shoigu congratulated employees and veterans of the military prosecutor’s offices on Russia’s Day of Worker of Prosecutor’s Office. The defence minister noted in a congratulatory message that presently the prosecutor’s offices became one of key elements of the domestic law enforcement system.
“Military prosecutors in close cooperation with the command of military units and formations are taking major effort to maintain lawfulness and the law and order in the troops, build up military discipline, prevent offences in army units and to protect legitimate rights and interests of servicemen and members of their families,” Shoigu noted.
The minister wished employees and veterans of the military prosecutor’s offices strong health and successes for the benefit of Russia.
In 2013 thanks to the joint work of commanders of military units and formations and military prosecutors the total number of crimes and incidents in the country’s Armed Forces went down 10 percent, moreover, a more than 30 percent decline was reported in several kinds of crime. So, the number of hazing-related crimes was reduced considerably.
“A stable downward tendency of statistical indicators on all types of offences has been observed in the armed forces for the past few years,” the ministry reported.
