Air becomes two times cleaner in Olympic city of Sochi for 5 years

SOCHI, January 10. /ITAR-TASS/. The Olympic construction did not worsen ecological situation in the Black Sea resort city of Sochi. In some indicators this situation has even improved, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak told reporters Friday about the environment monitoring data in the capital of the Winter Olympics in 2014.

“The air and water became cleaner today in the city of Sochi than in December 2007, moreover, the air became twice cleaner. If the amount of suspended matters has reached 1.2 of maximum permissible level before Olympic construction it is 0.6 of this level now. This is a very good result,” Kozak believes. He noted that these indicators had been achieved thanks to the modernization of the city transport infrastructure and ecological measures.

“I am absolutely sure that the city development is about to complete, and the air will become even cleaner after final measures. This is the main ecological achievement in the populated territories,” the deputy prime minister said with confidence.
