BUENOS AIRES, January 08, 16:27 /ITAR-TASS/. Airat Mardeyev's crew of the Kamaz-Master team is eliminated from the Dakar Rally marathon, the Russian team said on its website.

Mardeyev's vehicle overturned on Tuesday during the second stage on the route from San Luis to San Rafael. When the truck was running along a bank of a dried river, ground collapsed under its left wheel on a narrow place between a mountain and a precipice. The truck overturned with its roof down.

Despite the accident, Mardeyev's vehicle was ready for the next stage, but the rally board decided to bar it from the start. It became known that the GPS device switched off when the vehicle overturned. Under the regulations, the GPS device must not be turned off during the entire race. The organizers viewed it as a violation of the regulations and eliminated the vehicle from the marathon. The team's repeated appeal was not accepted for consideration.

Mardeyev's crew won the first stage. In 2013, the crew was the second in the Dakar Rally.
